Mike Mizanin was featured as a member of the cast in the tenth season of the MTV reality television series The Real World, titled Back to New York. He is a professional wrestler and TV personality who was born on October 8, 1980 in Parma, Ohio. Mizanin studied at Miami University, and was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity. He would later go on to attend the Richard T. Farmer School of Business. In the midst of his freshman year, he met and bonded with a former member of the Miami RedHawks, Nick Jardine. Mizanin also got to know Todd J. Hartman, a bodybuilder and gymnast.
Mizanin later on moved to southern California so he could undergo training as an actor. He went on a touring circuit of local high schools and colleges, where he gave motivational speeches and talks. During his college days back in 2001, he dropped out for a chance to appear on The Real World: Back to New York. Among the other television productions he has participated in are Battle of the Network Reality Stars, Road Rules: Northern Trail, The Inferno, and Battle of the Seasons. Mizanin turned his alter ego of “The Miz” into a gimmick for the WWE.
For the WWE, he appears on its RAW brand and is one half of the World Tag Team Champions with John Morrison. He trained with Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW) and Deep South Wrestling (DSW). While with the latter, he became the first Deep South Heavyweight Champion. Soon after, Mizanin was sent to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) and once won the title OVW Southern Tag Team Championship.
Mizanin soon became the host of the annual WWE Diva Search competition, held in 2006. This was followed by his debut as a villain, and was drafted from the SmackDown brand to ECW the next year. It was there that he formed his partnership with Morrison, and the two of them went on to win a title match against Matt Hardy and MVP.
He and Morrison are also the co-hosts of the WWE.com weekly segment known as “The Dirt Sheet,” where they make fun of the WWE rosters.
